Approaches to the Synodal Pathway
- Catholic Bishops' Conference

listening

“As you know — it’s not a novelty — a synodal process is about to begin, a journey in which the whole Church is engaged around the theme: ‘For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, Mission,’ three pillars. Three phases are foreseen, which will take place between October 2021 and October 2023. This itinerary was thought out as a dynamism of mutual listening. I want to stress this: a dynamism of mutual listening carried out at all levels of the Church, involving all the People of God. The Cardinal Vicar and the Auxiliary Bishops must listen to one another, the priests must listen to one another, the Religious must listen to one another, the laity must listen to one another and then, all inter-listening to one another; to listen to one another; to talk to one another and to listen to one another. It’s not about gathering opinions, no. This is not a survey, but about listening to the Holy Spirit.”

Pope Francis, Address to the Faithful of Rome, 18 September 2021

PEACE SUNDAY TODAY
Pope Francis’ message for 2022 is called “Education, work and dialogue
between generations – tools for building lasting peace”. This provides a golden opportunity for families, schools and parishes to explore their role in peace-making. See www.paxchristi.org.uk

ST ANNE’S PARISH MEETING This Sunday we shall try to prioritise your suggestions made at the November meeting and begin to explore how we can put these into action in our parish so that we can become more outward-looking and more missionary. Please join us if you can!

FIRST COMMUNION WELCOME MASS
At next Sunday’s 10:00 am mass in St Anne’s, we have 21 families joining us, so we will be fuller than usual! Please make them all welcome. We will have a parent’s meeting this Thursday at 7:00 pm in the Community Centre to prepare for the mass.

CHOICES PREGNANCY AND EARLY PARENTHOOD COUNSELLING

I was surprised to hear from Graham Todd last weekend that up to 45% of pregnancies in the UK are ‘unplanned’. Thank you all for supporting this much needed local churches initiative. We contributed £146.00 at Chapel en le Frith and £160.00 at Buxton. Maybe we should think about continuing our support for them in the future? Did you subscribe to their bi-monthly email newsletter? It is available through their website: https://choices-counselling.org.uk

BUXTON 100 CLUB RENEWALS are now due. Over the past 2 years, we have generated £2980.00 which we will use this year to improve our ‘back-of-house’ areas by refurbishing and redecorating the toilet beyond the sacristy, the flower room, and the reconciliation room (confessional). There are still quite a few outstanding subscriptions so please make your payments as soon as possible.  If people do not renew their subscriptions, and membership decreases, we will need to reduce the prizes awarded at the end of each month. Any unpaid numbers will be removed before the next draw. Information and standing order forms are available at the back of the church. Please see Fabio, Margaret or Fr Gerry.

SECOND COLLECTION next weekend for the Sick and Retired Priests Fund.

COVID SAFETY
Thank you all for being so careful at church in both Buxton and Chapel. We all sanitise before and after mass, wear face coverings, and are careful about keeping a social distance. We are also keeping the doors of both churches open for ventilation, despite the cold!
