Fr Greg writes    This Sunday we celebrate the great Solemnity of The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi), when we give thanks for the immeasurable gift of the Eucharist – the abiding presence of Christ among us. In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus says: “I am the living bread that came down from heaven… whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life.”  Through the Eucharist we are nourished, strengthened, and united more deeply with Christ and with one another as His Church.

As we celebrate this feast, we offer our sincere thanks to our Eucharistic Ministers for their faithful commitment and generous service in assisting at Mass and in taking Holy Communion to the sick and housebound. Your ministry is a quiet but profound witness to Christ’s love and care for His people.  Traditionally, Corpus Christi is marked by a Eucharistic procession, a public witness to our faith in the Real Presence of Christ. Nothing prohibits a procession from taking place following Mass, and where possible this beautiful tradition is warmly encouraged.  Saturday is the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Walsingham. Please keep all pilgrims in your prayers as they travel to honour Our Lady and seek spiritual renewal.  Looking ahead, Sunday 26th July, the Memorial Feast of St Anne and St Joachim, parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary, offers us an opportunity for parish celebration. We will mark the day with a Celebration Mass, a procession around our church, and a garden party with shared food on the Presbytery Patio. Please come prepared to join in the festivities and bring something to share.
Similarly, the Solemnity of The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on 15th August will be celebrated in Marple Bridge after the 11.30 am Mass on Sunday 16th August, with a procession and shared refreshments. Once again, please come prepared as we gather together in faith and fellowship.

As we begin the Tenth Week of Ordinary Time, may the Lord continue to nourish us with the Bread of Life and strengthen us in faith, hope, and charity.

WHAT AN INCREDIBLE FEW DAYS OUR PILGRIMS EXPERIENCED IN WALSINGHAM!   We were all blessed with a time of prayer, fellowship, laughter, and spiritual renewal. Parishioners from Ss. John Fisher & Thomas More and St Anne’s, were united in spirit and guided so prayerfully by Fr Greg and Fr Benjamin throughout the pilgrimage. From our morning devotions to Our Lady, to evening Vespers, we were inspired by Mary’s example of humility and faith. The Pilgrim Way walk was a real chance to walk together side by side, supporting each other and laughing with one another as we went. This led us to the climax of our day: the celebration of Mass at the National Shrine  concelebrated by Fr Greg and Fr Benjamin. We also enjoyed time at Wells-next-the-Sea, where friendships were strengthened over coffee, fish and chips, and the fresh sea air! The evenings brought us together in song, with Fr Greg leading us in some old favourites on his guitar. Our pilgrimage concluded with a beautiful Mass in the Slipper Chapel. We returned home enriched in faith, friendship, and community, grateful to all who organised and participated in such a memorable and grace-filled experience.    By Angela Oldfield
