HOLY WEEK AND EASTER - We begin the week today as we celebrate Jesus’ non-violent entry into Jerusalem on a donkey. We shall also read the Passion from the Gospel of Saint Mark. On Monday we will celebrate a Holy Week Service of Reconciliation. We shall retell the story of the denial of Peter and the betrayal by Judas. There will be music, big screen images and contributions from parishioners. Come and join us, especially if you haven't been before. We shall celebrate Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday in the traditional way, climaxing with the Easter Vigil, with the new fire and renewal of Baptismal promises on Saturday evening at Saint Anne's at 7:30pm. On Easter Sunday, we shall celebrate 2 morning masses, one at Chapel-en-le-Frith at 9:00 am and one at Buxton at 11:00 am. Do make a special effort to come and take part.
FR ANTHONY DOLAN RIP - Fr Anthony visited Buxton for three weekends in August for the past seven years whilst I have been with you and Chapel for the past two years. Many of you got to know him and appreciated him, and I know many of us will be saddened by his death. His funeral will be at St. Barnabas Cathedral, Nottingham on 8th April at 6:00pm and 9th April at 11:00am.
BUILDING WORK AT SAINT ANNE'S - Two of our church back of house rooms have now been renovated. The toilet and flower room have been totally renewed. New toilet area, new floor, new walls with damp-proof course, new units, new lighting - the lot! The Altar Server’s Sacristy has been partly renewed with new plaster, new damp-proof course, and new painting. The toilet and new baby changing facility are now open for use whenever the church is open and we shall shortly put new signage up. The toilet at the back of the presbytery will remain open whenever the church is. Please ask the Welcomers for directions to both toilets. The cost is £25,354 including VAT. Thanks to the parishioner who is contributing through a legacy, but donations are welcome too!
OUR THANKS to Ken and Margaret for helping us celebrate St Patrick’s Day with warm ham rolls, hot dogs and relishes, also to Mancy and Maryla for the drinks. Thank you for your support!
ST ANNE’S PPC - would like to thank everyone who completed the survey about the use of the space at the back of church and making the space more welcoming. We have analysed the answers and the comments, and the results gave us a very strong message. 48 people filled in a questionnaire, of whom 47 gave their names. 48 people (100%) said that we should continue with the children's area and more space at the back; no-one said that we should go back to how it was before. 6 people made suggestions for how we could adapt the space to improve it, and we are very grateful for these ideas. Thank you for all the positive comments that were made. As a result, it is clear that the way forward to becoming a more welcoming parish is to continue to develop the children's area and the space at the back of church to make all parishioners and visitors feel welcome and comfortable
BUXTON PLANNED GIVING ENVELOPES are available from the back of church.
THE HANGING AT THE BACK OF CHURCH - is by the German Catholic priest and artist Sieger Köder.

Many thanks to everyone who helped, particularly to Mike who acted as Auctioneer with great humour and skill and some wonderful individual bids undoubtedly came as a result of his gentle cajoling. Thanks also to Bruce who dealt with the bids, to Angela and Aileen for doing the refreshments, to Rob for all the printing and to Fr Dennis for all the advance publicity. Last but not least, thanks to everyone who kindly donated an item to auction or who bid for one or more of the lots.
We shall have a truly wonderful Flower Festival. We shall display a full list of the lots, donors & money raised at the back of the church from this evening.
Best wishes, Margaret Robinson
